4 Reasons I’m Excited about Prime Day (As an Affiliate Marketer)

Why I Love Amazon Prime Day As an Affiliate Marketer

Prime day is just around the corner, and as an affiliate marketer I can’t wait. It comes around every year, and it feels like each year it gets bigger and bigger.

If you’re an affiliate marketer, or someone who sells something online, you should be excited about Prime day as well. Here are 4 reasons I’m excited about Prime Day as an affiliate marketer, and why you should be as well.

1. People Have their Wallets Out

Each year, Prime day gets bigger. At first, it used to be one day. Then it was two days that you could get amazing Amazon deals. Now, I can’t even tell you how long it is. While it’s still officially 2 days, many of the deals started weeks before Prime day. The day before, there are even more added. Prime day is no longer one day, but at least a week.

As the years have gone on, people have been conditioned that when Prime day comes along, they can get good deals. So by the time Prime day happens, people are expecting to spend money. They literally have their wallets out, ready to use their credit cards and buy things.

Often, throughout the rest of the year, it can be hard to convince someone to buy something. People don’t want to spend money. But Prime day? They’re expecting to. Many of them have been looking forward to it and are looking to see what they can get.

They want to buy things, and are looking to see what they can get in the days and weeks leading up to it. This is an awesome time to get someone to buy something!

2. They’re Looking for Good Deals

Amazon has conditioned people that this is a good time of the year to get great deals on almost anything. Since Amazon sells so many different things, they know they can find deals on electronics, books, toys, and so on. So people know that they’ll find good deals on all sorts of things.

This is great for us, as it doesn’t matter what niche we’re in, we should be able to find something good to promote in it. No matter what your niche is, there will be deals in it. It’s Amazon after all. They sell almost everything. Let’s face it, if you can’t find anything else, you can always promote books.

Of course, it doesn’t have to be something within your niche. If you really like something, you can still share it with your audience. For example, many people love to read. So even if your niche isn’t about books or reading, you may recommend one of the many Kindle devices that are on sale for Prime day.

3. I Can Take Advantage of the Deals (and Eventually Make More Commission Because of It!)

Who doesn’t love a good sale? As a consumer, I’m happy about Prime day as well. I’ve already gotten many emails talking about different deals that I can take advantage of. I’m sure you have as well. You might have even gone to check some of them out to see if there is anything worth buying.

While I don’t need much, I will most likely end up buying a few things. Once I do, and have used them, do you know what I’ll do? I’ll share my opinions on them. If I got something that I really liked, I’ll tell my audience. I’ll let them know what I bought and what I thought of it. Then, if they like it, they can buy it too and I’ll make affiliate commissions on it.

I’ll also share the things that I wasn’t so happy with. The reason that I didn’t like something might not bother someone else, or to them it could even be a positive. Plus, by sharing how I honestly feel about products, people will know that I’m not saying that I like everything in order to make sales. They’ll trust me more and in the future buy more from me.

While this won’t necessarily make me more sales during Prime day, it will hopefully help me make more affiliate sales down the line.

So it’s a win-win for me too. I get products at a discount, get to share my honest opinions with my audience, and then if they decide to buy the product in the future, I’ll make more money.

4. Everyone is Involved (or Can Be!)

For the first year or so, Amazon Prime day was all about Amazon. That makes sense of course, as they are the ones that came up with the idea. But every year, more companies join in. Target and Walmart are two of the big ones that have their own huge sales during this timeframe. Some stores give their sales a special name as well. Other stores just have really good deals during this timeframe.

These other stores know that we’ve all been conditioned to look for great deals during Prime day, and want to get in on the action. So you name the store, and there is a good chance they’re having a sale during this timeframe. They won’t call it Prime day, but they’ll still be having a sale.

If you sell your own products, this is a great time for you to have a sale as well! You don’t need to give it a fancy name (although you can if you want.) People will be buying things, and that may lead to more people buying your products as well.

What do these sales mean for you? That it doesn’t matter what your niche is. There is a good chance that at least one (if not multiple) stores that sell things within your niche will be having a great sale.

You should be promoting these sales. You’re doing your audience a favor if you find the items that you think they would like (and are at a discount) and share it with them. You’ll be saving them time so they don’t have to go find it themselves.

Of course, you’ll also be getting affiliate commissions for this, so it’s a win for everyone. Your audience gets to find out great deals. They are happy with you because you’re the one that shared the deals with them, and you’ll make money because of it! So even if you don’t think Prime day is something you should be promoting…I suggest you take another look. Make sure you take a look at all of the stores that are taking advantage of it, and promote what you think is a great deal.

Enjoy,
Jessica
