You may wonder exactly what a “Relaxed Marketer” is. It sounds like it would be a good thing. Being relaxed is something we all want to be. But when it comes to your business, do you really want to be a “relaxed” marketer? You want to be successful, and one that makes an impact on other people’s lives (as well as makes money!) Can that still happen if you’re a relaxed marketer? Well, I’m going to share with you exactly why you should strive to be one, and how it will help your business grow.
When you think about the opposite of relaxed, you think of stressed. You know you don’t want to be stressed with your online business, right? The question is, how do you run your business so that you’re not stressed, but still become successful?
Don’t Work 80 Hours a Week
If you’re working during all of your waking hours, you’ll be stressed. You won’t be happy. You won’t have a rounded life. Yes, your business is important, but so is enjoying your life! The first thing you need to do is figure out why you’re working so much. Are you not getting enough done in a shorter amount of time? Do you feel like you need to be working nonstop if you have your own business?
You don’t. In fact, you can work less, and get a lot more done. Often, you’ll get the work done in however much time you have for it. If you have 2 hours to get a task done, or 2 weeks, that’s how long it will take you. If you’re worried that you won’t get enough done if you work less, start by cutting out a few hours each week. You’ll see that you don’t need to work a crazy amount of hours a week in order to have a successful online business.
Before long, you’ll realize that it can take you a lot less time to get your tasks done and you don’t have to give up your entire life to have a successful business.
Work When You Want to
We’re all different. So why should we all work on the same schedule? Some people are morning people and would prefer to be done with work tasks before lunch. Others don’t want to get up early and would prefer to work late into the night. To be a relaxed marketer, figure out when you want to work.
You can also figure out how long you want to work when you’re working. You may prefer to have a large chunk of time where all you do is work. Or you may prefer to work for a little while, and then do something else like run an errand or take a break another way. You need to get certain tasks done each day, but you can choose when you do them. Figure out when you work best, and you’ll be a lot happier (and less stressed) about your business.
Make Things Easier for Yourself (Use Tools/Shortcuts)
If you’re doing everything yourself, from scratch, you’re going to need a lot of time to get things done. But there are a lot of things that you do to make things easier for yourself.
Here are a few:
Use Done-for-You Content. You can take content that is already created for you, and use it as your own. You can make any changes that you want to, and not put any other time into it! You’re now the expert in any area that you want, even if you knew nothing about the topic just a few minutes before. Make sure you use a high quality done-for-you content provider, and you’re all set.
Batch Your Tasks. Yes, you can write an article, and then do some social media, and then create a video. But if you do a lot of the same tasks all in a row, it will take you a lot less time.
Think of it this way. When you want to create a video, it takes some time to get everything set up the right way. So why just create a video that you want to post today, and then move on to another task? You’re all set up, and ready to go. You’re already in the mindset as well. Create 5-10 videos all at once. You don’t need to post them all together. But now you’ve taken less time to create the videos, and you can use them as you want.
This works with any task. If you’re already in the mindset of writing an article, write a second one after you finish the first one. You don’t need to post the second one right away, but now you’ll have it for whenever you need it.
You can do this for any type of tasks. Once you’re in a mindset of doing it, create as many as you can, and then move on to something else. You’ll save a lot of time this way, and there’s a good chance that you’ll find out that you really enjoy working this way!
Don’t do the Tasks You Don’t Like to Do
This may sound counterintuitive, but don’t do the things you don’t like to do! Now, in some cases you may still want the tasks done, but there are always ways around it. For example, if talking live online to people stresses you out more than you can imagine, don’t do it! Seriously. If you really want to teach something live, you can find ways to get it done. Have someone else do the actual speaking for you. Or pre-record it. You can then play it on the webinar and be there to answer questions that come up. No matter what it is, you can find a way to make it work without you having to do something you definitely don’t want to do.
If you can’t stop doing the tasks that you don’t like within your business because you decide they are needed, here’s another option. Outsource! No matter what the task is, there are people out there that will be happy to do it for you! Use a site like Fiverr and get someone else to do it for you. You’ll be less stressed, and can spend your time doing the things you want to do within your business.
Use Your Content Again (and Again and Again)
Are you creating something new every time you need new content? If so, I hope you’ll rethink this. Especially when it comes to something like social media. If it went over well before, use it again! There’s no way that everyone will remember exactly what you said. Most people will forget it if they even read it in the first place. And the few that think they remember reading it? They’ll be happy to be reminded of your great information.
Use Your Content in Different Ways
If you spent a lot of time creating an amazing post, why stop there? Only a certain amount of people will ever get to read your blog post. Turn it into other content as well. Make an audio or video out of it. Turn it into a report. You spent time creating something you thought was awesome, so don’t let the content live in that one place. Use it over and over again in different ways. Let more people learn about what you wanted to say. You’ll make a lot of people happy, and you’ll spend less time creating more content!
Live the Life You Want!
To me, the whole point of being a relaxed marketer is to live the life that you want. You have to do what makes you happy, and what works best for you. Your business should fit seamlessly into your life. You should be able to get your work done, and still do all of the other things you want to within your life. Being a relaxed marketer is the way to do this!
Enjoy,
