I’m going to say something that may seem counter intuitive. I really think you should share some of your best stuff for free. Let me give you a great example why.
A few weeks ago, I shared with you how Angela Wills is doing a free 30 Day Challenge on how to be less distracted, more focused and get more done. I thought it would help a lot of people, and so I shared it in an email. I figure, it doesn’t cost anyone anything, and being more focused and less distracted is something that most people can use! (I know I sure need it.)
So while I was writing the email, I was looking at some suggestions that she had put in her email swipes about promoting it.
One of the things was that you can use an app called Simple Habit to meditate, since meditation can really help you focus more.
I had tried meditation in the past, and used a popular app called HeadSpace. It was alright, but I really didn’t wan to pay monthly for it, so I stopped using it. So after reading about her suggestion, I downloaded Simple Habit and tried it. And I’m really impressed. While you can pay to get a lot more meditations, there are quite a few you can choose for free, including nice relaxing sounds that I like listening to while I write my emails. Right now I’m listening to Nature Sounds: Ocean. I’ve done a few of the meditations that are available, and really like it. Will I keep up with it? I don’t know, but I’m glad to have gotten the suggestion so that I can try it!
Well, she could have saved that kind of suggestion for people who paid for one of her courses, or at least signed up for the free challenge. But I hadn’t done either of those, and yet she gave me a great suggestion. That makes me think more highly of her, and in the future I’m definitely more likely to pay attention to what she has to say. I also of course signed up for the challenge.
(If you’re interested, it’s not too late, and it doesn’t cost anything.)
I’m hoping to get some more great ideas out of it.
If she hadn’t given such great ideas of things to do to stay more focused, I’m not sure I would have signed up for the challenge, and probably wouldn’t be as excited to hear what she has to say.
So while of course you shouldn’t give all of your good stuff away, it’s always helpful to share at least some of it, so people know what kind of knowledge you have, and what you bring to the table.
If you use PLR, a great way to do this is to take a small part of it, and either make it an opt-in, or put it in an email. Some way to share just a little bit of what’s inside, so your audience knows what they’re going
to get.
If you’re an affiliate marketer who right now is thinking that this has absolutely nothing to do with you, I’d like to say that I think you’re wrong. As an affiliate, you still want an audience of people who like and trust you.
While you might not be creating what you’re promoting, you still have to create content for your audience. So make sure you’re sharing helpful things, and aren’t “saving it” for people who are buying through your links.
You’ll see that you’ll grow an even happier audience who will want to buy more from you!
Enjoy,
