Right before I started writing this post, I was over at Safe-Swaps, buying 2 different solo ads.
What is a Solo Ad?
I found two different people who were willing to send a “solo ad” – in other words, an email with JUST my writing, to their list.
Why was I buying Solo Ads?
You need traffic to make money. The more people I have on my lists, the more money I make. It’s as simple as that. While there are many different ways to get people to my websites, some of them can take a lot of time. So while I use those as well, when I’m looking to grow my email list (and who isn’t?), sometimes the fastest and easiest thing to do is buy a solo ad.
How does it work?
I’ve only used Safe-Swaps, so I can’t talk about doing it any other way…but through them it’s very safe.
I do a search so that I only see the people who have great ratings, and look at the prices that they’re willing to send the email out for. You pay per person that clicks on the link in the email and actually goes to your website.
So for example, one of the two emails I just paid for was for $34.00. They’re going to get me 100 clicks, and I paid $0.30 per click to my website, for a total of $34.00.
I love the way this works, because you never know who is on their list. If it’s people who are not interested in my offer, they won’t click on the link, and I didn’t have to pay for them to receive the email. I only pay for the people who actually click and see my site.
What kind of results do I get from Solo Ads?
There are so many variables, that you can’t expect to get the same results as you did last time, or the same results as someone in another niche etc… But the last time I purchased a solo ad, which was back in December, I got about a 50% signup rate.
That means for the 100 clicks I paid for, I got about 50 people to sign up to my list.
I was really impressed, as it’s not usually that high of a rate, but I wasn’t going to complain!
What will this do for your business?
I’m sure you’ve heard the same formula I have. They say that for every person you have on your list, you can expect to make $1 per month.
So if I grew my list by 50 people, I should make an extra $50 per month from it. Considering I paid less than that, with just one month I more than got my money’s worth.
Plus, if you have a nice marketing funnel, there is good chance that you’ll have made money that same day, as you’ll offer the new signups different products throughout the process of them signing up and getting the free report/book/audio/etc…
What’s the catch?
I’d guess you’d say there are 2.
The first is that you pay to be a member of Safe-Swaps. But if you’re using it, you’ll see that you get your money’s worth. I love that I know that these people are accountable since I can see all of the reviews for them and how reliable they actually are!
I also love how easy it is to find people. You just go do a search with your exact specifications, (niche, cost, reliability, etc…) and you’ll get a list of people you can buy from. You then put in the dates you’re looking for them to send the email, pay, and you’re done. You just wait for them to accept and you’re set.
The second is that many if not most of the people will only let you send their visitors to a free offer.
So if your goal is to send someone directly to buy your product, most of them won’t do it.
Personally, I think that is a good thing.
What are the chances someone who has NEVER heard of you before is going to buy your product right away?
Not very high. But if you give them something free, and get them on your list, there is a much higher of a chance they’ll spend money with you. So to me that’s not a problem at all.
Just as a side note…companies like Safe-Swaps offer other services as well.
You can sell solo ads, so you can make money for each person who clicks on the email you send them to go to someone else’s offer.
Or, you can swap ads, so both people can grow their list without having to spend any money.
I haven’t used either of those options yet, but I probably will in the future.
Right now the easiest and quickest thing for me to do is log in, buy a few ads, and then watch my list grow!
