Are you looking for ways to have more content without spending more time creating it? I know I’m not alone in saying that I don’t have enough time to get all of the content written that I’d like to. I’m always looking for more ways to be productive. So whenever I can find a way to have more great content without having to put the time and effort into it, I’m 100% in. Shortcuts are what get me having a lot more content out there than I should for the amount of time I put into it.
How Are You Getting Content for Tweets? (or any Social Media)
When it comes to social media, how do you create your content? It’s a valid question. Do you create something new each time you want to post something?
There are a lot of ways to get content for Tweets. You can sit in front of Twitter, writing Tweet after Tweet after Tweet. It works. It gives you a lot of unique content. Maybe you take parts of your emails and Tweet that. That works too, and is better as you’ve already spent the time writing it, and you’re using it a second time. You may even take parts of posts you’ve written and Tweet those. Again, that is great because you’ve already spent the time creating the content, and you’re using it again.
Another valid way is to outsource it. You can have someone else write unique content for you. That doesn’t take you any time at all. Or you can use small parts of content from products that you’ve created. Or you can even use some swipe from affiliate promotions that you’re doing.
Those are all great options, and will give you unique Tweets. Some of those options don’t even take that long. But I have one question for you when it comes to what you Tweet, and it makes all the difference in how much time you spend.
When it comes to Twitter (or any social media platform really), do you ever reuse your content? I really hope the answer is yes. If you don’t, why not? “Reusing” is not a bad word. Reusing your content is actually an awesome and helpful thing, not a bad thing like you may think it is.
Why You Should Reuse Tweets (or any Social Media Content)
When you spend the time to write a Tweet, you post it because you think it’s good content. Correct? Otherwise you wouldn’t have spent the time creating it. Now, imagine you post it once. Let’s say it’s at 9am on a Monday morning. How many people saw that Tweet? Even if they’re following you, and love your content.
Really, how many people do you think saw the Tweet at that exact time? Even if they went on Twitter an hour or two after that, and scrolled and scrolled. Are you sure they saw your tweet? Are you sure they didn’t miss it? Or even if they saw it, will they remember it a week from now? Will they even remember it an hour from now?
I don’t mean this in a bad way. I am sure your content is good. I could be saying this about anyone’s content. Think about when you’re reading social media. Do you remember everyone’s Tweets? Of course not. We all have so many things on our minds at once, and when we’re scrolling through Tweets or any other social media, we can only remember so much.
So you’re doing a disservice to your audience when you don’t reuse your Tweets. No matter when you posted it, there is a good chance that a good portion of your audience missed it. So give them another chance (and another, and another) to see it!
Especially if you think it’s awesome. Tweet it again at a different time, on a different day. Now I’m not saying that you should be Tweeting the same things over and over, but if you have good content, you should definitely be sharing it more than once.
Wait a while, and then post it again! Especially if you got a lot of engagement out of it. Did people like it? Did they comment on it? Did they Retweet it? That means they thought it was great. After some time has gone by, Tweet it again. You’ll most likely get more engagement out of it and a whole bunch of new people will see it!
And guess what…if someone does come across a Tweet of yours that they read before, want to know what they’ll think? They’ll say to themselves, “Oh yeah, that was good! I should listen to that!” or something similar to that. They won’t be upset and think “How dare that person Tweet something that they Tweeted before.” No one will think that. If they even notice, they’ll be happy to be reminded of the great content that they most likely forgot about.
How to Make it Simple to Reuse Your Tweets
This is the most important part of what I have to say, so if you’ve skimmed up until now, this is the part to take notice of. Sure, you can look at your Twitter profile, and hit the down arrow repeatedly until you see a post you want to reuse, but that sounds boring. It’ll also take forever, especially if you’re looking for a specific post that you Tweeted a while ago!
I am going to show you a way that makes it easy to find and reuse your Tweets. Are you ready? Now because websites are always changing things, it might be different by the time your read this. But it should still be very similar.
First, go to Twitter. Then, go to your “settings”. Once you’re in “settings”, you’ll see an option that says something like “Download an archive of your data”. Click this. They’ll make you log in again, and want to send a code to your phone to prove that it’s you. Do that. It won’t take long. Then, they’ll tell you that within 24 hours, you’ll get a message from them letting you know that your data is ready to download. I got an email about it a little less than 24 hours later.
Download this data as soon as you can, and put it somewhere you won’t lose it. It’s beautiful, beautiful data. Inside this zip file are all of your tweets. They also share some other cool stats like how many tweets you have, likes, and more. Once you finish playing around, make sure you click on “Tweets.” You’ll see all of your tweets. I don’t know how far back they go, but my first Tweet was in 2016, and they had those too. For each Tweet, you’ll also see how many Retweets and likes you got!
It’s exactly how you Tweeted it too. So you can now VERY easily copy and paste a Tweet over to Twitter and Tweet it again. Do you realize how awesome this is? Now you don’t need to come up with a ton of great content all of the time. You likely have a lot of awesome content that you already spent the time creating and posting.
Want to promote something you promoted last year? No problem, it won’t take much time at all. If you like how you promoted it last time, copy and paste it (the picture too!) and you’re done in seconds. Remember how you spent all that time creating pretty graphics to go with quotes or something else you were working on? Reuse those as well!
It makes it so easy for you to have a lot more content to Tweet about, all without having to do any extra work except for finding the Tweet! And if you remember even part of a Tweet, you can do a search and it’ll be easy to find. So the next time you want to have some great content to post, take less time and reuse a Tweet.
Enjoy,
