I am going to say something that an Internet Marketer isn’t supposed to say…but it’s true. I HATE social media. I mean hate it with a passion. Do I have an account on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, and so on? Of course. I have accounts for each of my big niches. But do I use any of them? Very, very rarely. I can’t help it. I am an introvert. The last thing I want to do is have public conversations on all of these platforms.
Now, if you’re not like me, do I suggest using them? Absolutely! It’s a wonderful way to gain a following, and you’ll get more traffic and more fans if you use them. So please don’t think I’m suggesting you don’t. I really wish I was the type of person who would use social media more.
But if you’re like me…I have another idea. At least it’s something I’m planning.
I’m going to use podcasts. While I hate having public conversations with multiple people on social media, to me a podcast is very different! You’re either talking by yourself or with or two other people. To me that’s very different, and that’s why recently I’ve been considering starting a podcast on affiliate marketing. The only reason I haven’t done it so far is that I’m not sure if anyone would be interested in hearing it.
What’s funny about the timing, is I got an email from Steve Olsher the other day about podcasting. He’s giving away “The Ultimate Directory of Podcasters” for free.
This gives us 670 of the world’s leading podcasters.
So all this time I’ve been thinking about starting my own podcast. But being a guest on someone’s podcast who already has a huge following sounds like a great idea too, doesn’t it?
If you even go on just one podcast as a guest, you could get a huge following. If you do more than one? Well, I think your audience will grow even more.
It’s a great way for people to get to know you and trust you. Sometimes it’s hard over text to let people know about who you are. But over voice it’s a lot easier. So if you’ve been trying to get “out there” more, this is a great idea. People with podcasts are always looking for new people to interview, so it’s a win-win for both of you.
Even if you’re into social media, it’s a great way to get more people to know about you. But for someone like me who isn’t, and whose options are limited…this sounds like a really good plan!
