I absolutely love how affiliate marketing can be brought into almost any conversation where someone spends money. It’s great…it means that there are tons of ways that affiliate marketers can earn more money.
I did something a few days ago that I didn’t even think about until I was done with it…and realized that it’s an awesome opportunity for affiliate marketers.
Here’s what happened…
My daughter’s first birthday isn’t too far away, and so we were planning what we would do for it.
We decided to have a nice family dinner with both sides, and because of the location, decided that P.F. Chang’s was the perfect location. It’s not too far from everyone, and everyone will be happy with the meal.
When I thought about how much it was going to cost us to pay for everyone’s meal…the first thing I thought of was how could I get the dinner to cost less?
So of course I started thinking about how I could get a discount on gift cards. Between a cashback site, and a coupon that was good that day, I ended up saving a little over 25% on the gift cards I bought. No one will know we got the gift cards at a discount (unless we tell them of course!) but we are very happy to be saving so much.
I know we aren’t the only ones who like to save on things like going out to eat, or at stores we shop at.
I mean, who doesn’t like to save money when they go shopping or out to eat?
Plus, we’re talking about regular stores and restaurants that everyone already uses. Chains and franchises that are all over the country that you probably visit yourself. Target, Kohl’s, Whole Foods, Best Buy, Subway, Outback Steakhouse…you get the picture. We’re not talking about stores you’ve never heard of.
That’s why I love promoting these gift card sites to my customers. They get to save money on their food and retail purchases, and I get an affiliate commission.
What kind of websites am I talking about?
Sites like:
- Raise: You can even let your customers know the first time they use them, they can use code 50RAISEAF to get an additional $5 off $50 or more.
- CardPool: They have a lot of gift cards as well.
- Gift Card Granny: They compare the prices of many of the gift card sites so you can find the best price.
- …there are also many others.

That means if you promote any of the above sites to your customers, and they buy gift cards through them, you’ll get an affiliate commission! Helping your customers save money is a great way for them to like you even more! And seriously, who doesn’t want to save money when they go out to eat…go buy clothes, toys, books, and more?
Before last week, the last time I bought a gift card at a discount, I combined it with a promotion that was going on at a clothing store for 40% off…and I ended up saving over 60% off the sweater I bought. I was really excited. It’s fun to save money.
