A funny thing happened this weekend, and it goes to show you that no matter how well you plan things, well, sometimes things just don’t go as you plan them.
Of course it doesn’t mean you should give up. It just means that you need to roll with whatever happens.
Picture this.
It’s Friday morning, about 11:25AM, right before the holiday weekend.
I had just finished writing an email that would go to my list.
This wasn’t just any email, it was to promote a product that had a special price on Friday, and only that day. Starting Saturday, the price would rise.
So it was important that my list got the email on Friday.
I finish entering the email, and test it, like I always do. I recommend testing it each time just to make sure that your link goes where you want it to, that it’s clickable, etc…
Anyway, it’s now right after 11:25, and I hit “Send Message Now”.
Of course, I expected the email to go out within the next few minutes. Sometimes it takes a little bit longer…but that’s usually about it.
Instead, what happened?
Well…I’m on my lists, as well as my husband. I strongly suggest being on your own list so you can see exactly what other people are getting.
And what did other people get on Friday?
Absolutely nothing!
Nope…the emails slowly came out over Saturday, Sunday, and even Monday!
I’m sure that went over well with a subject line that included the word Friday in it, don’t you?
Oh well.
What can you do? I could have gotten all frustrated and stressed about it…but what’s the point?
It wouldn’t have changed anything.
Instead, on Tuesday when I sent out my next email, I laughed, explaining what happened.
That’s what having your own business means! Not everything goes the way you expect it to…but it’s all good. It gave me something to talk about the next day – and something to post about now.
So expect that not everything will go the way you expect it to. But instead of stressing about it, figure out how you can use it to your advantage. Or at least how to just let it go and move on to the next thing.
