When You Need New Content Now, but Have No Clue What to Write…

Blank Screen

Yesterday we talked about how you can do a few different posts or emails about deals coming up with Black Friday, and how there will be great sales all month long…but do you ever want to write your list, but just can’t come up with anything to write…but you want to send the email out NOW?

I understand what that’s like. That’s why I always suggest keeping a list of ideas nearby. Add to it whenever you get an idea, even if you don’t want to write it out now. Then, when you’re staring at a blank screen, you’ll at least have a topic and it will be MUCH easier to get an email written.

This can work for when you need to write some content for a blog or social media too.

If you don’t have anything on your list…here’s what you can always use as a backup idea that can be used over and over again.

I’m sure you’ve seen that every day is some sort of special day. For example, in case you were interested, today is Cookie Monster Day, Look for Circles Day, and National Jersey Friday. It’s also Adopt a Senior Pet Month, Gluten-Free Diet Awareness Month, Healthy Lifestyles month, National Education Month, National Gratitude Month…and so many others.

In fact, you can check out more here.

When I absolutely can’t come up with anything else to write, I see what today is, or what the month is, and see how I can tie my niche into one of them.

So let’s see…if my niche had to do with food at all, I could talk about how a lot of people are gluten-free, and even find a recipe that looks good to write about.

Being in the Internet Marketing niche, I could easily take Healthy Lifestyles month and talk about how people who spend a lot of time on their computer don’t get enough exercise, and talk about the things I do to get exercise. I could even promote some of them, like the stand I bought to put on my treadmill so that I could walk while I work.

Or, I could talk about how it’s National Gratitude Month, and say how I’m grateful for being able to work from home on my own business, etc… and if I wanted to promote something, talk about a product that I really like and I’m grateful to have found.

No matter what niche you’re in, I think you could take National Education Month and write about something, because you can learn about anything! There are books on every subject, so if you’re in the crocheting niche, you can say that as part of National Education Month, people should learn a new stitch, and here are a few books that can help, or a few YouTube videos etc…

All of these are just off the top of my head. And there are at least 20+ more things that either are either today, this week, or this month.

And of course, every day/week/month, there are new things that are being celebrated!

So if you ever can’t come up with something to email, post about, or talk about on social media, take a look at what today is celebrating. I bet you’ll be able to connect something to your niche and have a lot of content ready to go in a really short time.

Enjoy,
Jessica

P.S. Another way to come up with an idea of what to write about is by searching companies you’re an affiliate of (or of companies you can join – if you have more time.) Every so often I like going to some of the affiliate networks and searching what companies are in them. Sometimes I’ve gotten some great ideas.

For example, I was searching around Flexoffers a few months ago, and saw that both Lindt and Ghirardelli are available in their system. So I applied and got approved to both, and did a post on one of my niche sites about how I love eating chocolate and love buying different chocolate from different stores. It didn’t hurt that just a week prior to that I had been at Lindt at a store in a mall nearby, and so I posted about what I bought and why. But I never would have come up with that post idea if I hadn’t seen them in the list of affiliate programs.

If you want to check out Flexoffers, here’s the link. They have a huge selection of companies that I haven’t found anywhere else, and of course (just as a reminder) you never pay to join an affiliate network or an affiliate program, they pay you when you make sales for them!
