Have You Tried the Ivy Lee Method to be more Productive?

What do you do to make sure you’re productive each day?

I hate to say it, up until now I just made a list each day, and worked on whatever I want to work on off that list.

So that means sometimes things on the list get done, sometimes they don’t, and other times things that aren’t on the list get done instead!

Well I just read about the Ivy Lee Method today, and I can’t wait to try it.

What is the Ivy Lee Method?

At the end of the work day, you should write down the six most important things that you need to accomplish the next day. Make sure you put them in order of importance.

Then, when you start working the next day, work on the first task. Only work on the first task. When you finish it, then move onto the second task. Go through the entire list like this.

At the end of that day, make a new list and go through the whole process again. What happens if you don’t finish an item on your list? No problem, just add it to the list for the next day.

It’s as simple as that!

Why do I like it? It sounds simple. It’s something that I think I can easily incorporate into my life.

More importantly? It works.

I plan on starting this tonight, to see if it works. I’ll post an update a week from now letting you know how it works.

I suggest going to the link above to check out the story behind the method. It involves Charles Schwab, and is really neat. It’s pretty short, but I think it’ll convince you that it’s worth a try.
